About

Since 2010

We want to change the way people see Christ, Christians & the Church.

We are a church.

Church Project began with a mission to rethink church and return to the essence of leading, gathering and living the way Christ and the early church intended.  We are a Church of House Churches. We distribute leadership into diverse discipleship communities. Our intent is to be unashamedly biblical, irreducibly simple, understandably relevant to all, and radically generous. We are an organism, not an organization. We believe that Christ changes lives, and that His church can be the most powerful influence of love and change on the planet. We want to change the way people see Christ, Christians, and the Church.

We are a project.

We are on a continual pursuit of becoming who God originally intended us & church to be. We pursue the biblical, simple, powerful early church model of church. The early church gathered weekly by the thousands in a simple way to study the Scriptures, pray, and give, so we do similar Sunday Gatherings. The early church gathered by the dozens in House Churches to live in a diverse discipleship community, so we gather similarly in House Churches. The early church gave their lives and money to do ministry, so we serve and give through Ministry Partnerships.

We are a community.

We are a “Church of House Churches”. We gather together to grow in relationship with God & one another. We gather in smaller groups in House Churches throughout the week, corporately on Sundays, and in ongoing relationships beyond the structure of church.

We are a collective.

We are serving our world generously with our lives and our money through partnerships with dozens of effective local & global ministries. We meet practical needs, right in our city and around the world, and share the message of God’s love in Christ.

We are a cohort.

We are networks of like-minded churches domestically & internationally. We are interdependent but autonomous. We share vision, values, and DNA, as well as resources and relationship. We collaborate as Church Project Network and House Church Network.

CORE TRUTHS DEFINING OUR CHRISTIAN FAITH & OUR CHURCH

What we believe.

WE BELIEVE that God is the source of all love and good, and that all things good come from God. We believe that God is love, and that as He is the source of love and good, God defines what is love, and God defines what is good.

WE BELIEVE that the world is beautiful, and the world is broken. God created all things good, but all things are not good now, as sin against God’s goodness corrupted this creation. God loves the world, and by His grace, delights and desires to rescue us and to restore us in our relationship with Him. We get to God the way God came to us, God in the flesh, Jesus. God stepped into our broken world to give a new life and restoration and forgiveness to all who trust in His salvation, Christ as our Savior. God became a man, Jesus, who lived a beautifully perfect life, taught us the way to follow Him, died on the cross as a perfect substitute for our penalty of sin, and resurrected to overcome death caused by sin. Through faith in Jesus Christ – not being good enough or by our own power, or any other power – we are restored to a right relationship with God, and are given power over death- life that begins now, and lasts forever.

WE BELIEVE there is only one God, the uncreated Creator, who exists eternally as a Trinity of three persons: Father, Son, and Spirit. Each member of the Trinity is fully and equally and eternally God, yet beautifully mysteriously personally distinct from one another.

WE BELIEVE that God in the flesh, Jesus Christ, was born but did not begin as Jesus is God eternal. Jesus lived a sinless life, was crucified and died on the cross, was resurrected from the dead, and ascended to Heaven, and will fully restore all things in the time God decides and desires.

WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit of God is a gift of the presence and power and permanence of God, given to us by the grace of God, who comes to live within a person once they trust in Christ as their Savior from sin and self and separation from God. The Holy Spirit indwells all believers to live a powerful Christ-like life, to build an intimate relationship with God, to secure salvation, and to give gifts that build the church and power to spread the Gospel.

WE BELIEVE God created men and women to live in relationship with Him, but the first humans chose to rebel against God and brought sin into the world. Sin spread like a virus to all humans, and all have sinned, and our sin has separated us all from God. Everyone is in need of the saving grace of God, Jesus’ death and resurrection, applied to their lives.

WE BELIEVE that the Bible is God’s Word to us, written by men who were especially inspired by God in that moment to write what was written. God wrote the Scriptures by His Spirit, and His Spirit makes His Scriptures alive for us today. God wrote His Scriptures to reveal Himself to mankind, and to direct us in His best way to live life.

WE BELIEVE the church is God’s powerful plan for His people. God created the Church and called His people to live in committed community as a diverse family, loving and serving one another, helping each other grow in our faith and as devoted followers of Christ, meeting one another’s needs, giving grace and forgiveness and love, and in doing so will reveal to the world God’s plan for restoring goodness and reconciling people to Himself, and to one another.

Leadership.

Church Project operates through decentralized leadership distributed to many via House Church Pastors and Ministry Leaders, with a small overseeing and supporting team. The email links below can help direct your questions, inquiries, and contact to the correct oversight leadership.

Elders
Church Project is overseen by a team of elders, a plurality of leaders. Elders oversee the general protection and direction, leadership, doctrine, and major decisions of Church Project.

Church Project’s finances are handled by an outside accounting firm, assisted by in-house accountants, and overseen by a Board of Directors. Questions about CP finances, email: giving@churchproject.org
