Ministry: Angel Reach
Need: Volunteers needed to for Ironman Race
Volunteering for the Ironman is an awesome tradition and fundraiser for Angel Reach! We are calling all volunteers, youths/clients in the program, staff, co-workers, church/school groups and friends to volunteer for to raise funds for Angel Reach, while having fun cheering on these amazing athletes from all over the world! If we fill all 3 shifts of the Ironman Bike Check-Out (90 volunteers in all) and the Men’s Transition Station, then Angel Reach will receive $1,800 contribution, plus a potential for a $10,000 grant from the Ironman Foundation (which we have always received since we began volunteering 5 years ago).
The Bike Check-Out is stationed at Town Green Park. Volunteers will assist in retrieving the athlete's bike, as well as double checking the athlete’s race number to the number on the bike, helmet, and equipment bags to ensure that they match. We will also be unloading bikes from a truck and positioning them on the appropriate rack for athletes who were not able to finish the race. (These are very expensive racing bikes so as we admire them, we need to handle with care).
Please be there 15 minutes before your shift and bring sunscreen, snacks and water bottles. Parking will be available at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. Pizza and water will be available as supplies last.
Ironman Volunteer T-shirts will be given to all volunteers and we are invited to attend the lively Athlete Banquet/Volunteer “Thank You” Lunch at the Marriott the following day (Sun, 4/23) at 12:30.
When: Saturday, April 22nd – 23rd, 2017 4PM-1AM
