". . . for the name of the Lord Jesus." Acts 21:13
When the Spirit of God comes to us, He does not give us glorious vision, but He tells us to do the most ordinary thing. Whenever God steps in, He asks us to do the most natural simple thing, the thing we would have never imagined God was in. But when we do it, we find God is there. As soon as we arise and obey, we enter a higher plane of life.
Live for the name of Jesus. That's what God asks of us. Any individual who answers the call will re-establish the foundation of the family and recover the dream of God. People like that in the world over will open the way for the kingdom of God to be realized. People fully abandoned to the name of Jesus cannot be bought because they have ceased to live for themselves. They have put their life into something infinitely more valuable than anything they alone might ever be.
Live for the name of Jesus. The choice inspires heroic choices, changes lives for the sake of Jesus. The harvest of a life of faithfulness will never be able to be calculated. But it's safe to say, when all human decency and goodness exercised in the world are added up, none will have turned more people from darkness to light than those who have lived for the name of Jesus.
Sometimes in our desire to find the "deep" things of faith, it may seem that we've outgrown the call to live for the name of Jesus. Often, we lose Jesus in the midst of the profound and abstract thoughts. But the name of Jesus is the only power that transforms a life. It's the power of a personal Jesus over the personal life of another.
There's no doubt we need theology to live a Godly life. But theological correctness is not the first thing. In the end, a life will be changed by people who are fully abandoned to the great love of God and have given their allegiance to live for the sake of Jesus’ name.
Would others say you are living for the name of Jesus?
