Psalm 32:8

Maker’s Marks

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8

The pressure to go out and “find” God’s will for your life is off. There is great relief in discovering that as believers we do not have to fumble through life trying to figure out what to do with our lives. We’ve heard it said, “God has a wonderful plan for your life.” It’s true, He does. Besides knowing God as our savior and knowing God as our sanctified, knowing God as our guide is the most important.

Those committed to knowing Jesus are not dumped out into the world to grope their way along, hoping they will stumble into the will of God along the way. We have the guidance of God. God’s spirit works in the believer’s life directing in the way they are to go. By paying attention to the markers He graciously provides along our path, we can be confident we are moving in His will.

1 Scripture

The Bible is filled with guidance. The better we know it, the easier it is to know His will. His spirit will give us understanding of His word, which in turn, helps us discern our path. Anything which contradicts His commands will never bring us into His will.

2 Circumstances

No circumstance happens by chance. Often, open and closed doors are a good indicator of God moving us toward where He wants us. Sometimes He does it as a way to strengthen our faith.

3 Peace

There is a peace God gives that is beyond our ability to put into words. When this peace is experienced, it’s an indicator we are in His will.

4 Godly counsel

Getting insight from an older more mature believer, one who knows God and His word, they will be able to see what you don’t see and provide wisdom for your best step.

5 Personal desires

As we grow in our relationship with Him, our desires will line up with His desires for us.

6 Common sense

God’s will doesn’t have to be weird or bizarre. God gives us common sense, He’s delighted when we use it.

7 Supernatural guidance

A voice, a vision, a dream, we have to be open to the possibility and it must always be evaluated with scripture.

As all these signs line up, be assured you are walking in the will of God.

Pay attention to the signs.
