God Had a Plan All Along
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.
1 Peter 3:18
Sin is bad. It hurts you, controls your potential, damages your emotions, thwarts your dreams. Most significantly, it separates you from God. At the earliest moments of humanity, sin was present, and people knew it. As a result, humans have tried every possible way to remove sin and please God. These attempts define history.
Knowing that people had the potential to sin and the tragic results that would follow if people sinned, God designed a strategy to destroy sin before He created the earth. His plan was radically supernatural, yet it took place in the natural. The plan opened the way for individuals to know Him as their heavenly Father. Jesus was the plan.
With God’s strategy, the Son of God came to earth and became a man in order to destroy the power of sin by taking on Himself the guilt of all sin, becoming sin, and dying to pay for sin. As the apostle Peter stated, “Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust.” Jesus died for all sin and defeated sin—even your sin.
Since Jesus died on the cross and rose again, the plan of God worked. Each individual can have his or her sins forgiven and enter into a fabulous new relationship with God. The question must be asked: Have you accepted the payment Jesus paid for your sins? Have you asked Him to forgive your sins, and then received Him as your Lord and Savior?
Dear Jesus, I’m the sinner, and You are the Savior. Save me from dragging around my past, and make me alive through Your Spirit. Amen.
