“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10
Busy! Busy! Busy! It seems that even the youngest among us live busy lives. How often have you heard phrases such as “not enough hours in the day,” or “too much stuff on my plate,” or “wearing too many hats,” used to describe our daily activities? When are we still? Even if we are able to be still physically, it is more difficult to be still spiritually.
We have a standing invitation from our heavenly Father to come into His presence, be still, quiet our minds, and know Him — the I AM!
Let go! Relax! Be still!
Don’t you just love that “Be still” part of Psalm 46:10? Wow! That requires slowing down, doesn’t it? Look at the benefits. In the stillness we will know God. Taking time to reflect on God — His greatness, His love, and His power — will help us know Him. God initiates! Be still and know Me.” We come into His presence, and in the stillness and the knowing we find mercy. Even in the midst of all the noise and the busyness around us, we need to spend time with the Lord. The world is full of commotion and chaos, but we have confidence that in the presence of the Lord we can find peace and rest.
When was the last time you came into the Lord’s presence and listened to His voice? Take time today to slow down, step away from the activities of your day, and be still in His presence. Hear His invitation to: “Be still and know Him!”
Heavenly Father, in this busy chaotic world, help me to slow down long enough to see Your greatness and hear Your voice. Let me know that You are God. Amen.
