Jeremiah 33:3

This week concludes our study in the Foundations series, where we have examined how our foundation of faith has impacted the details of our living. Next week, we will begin several weeks of stand-alone messages, along with daily devotionals, so be sure to check back daily. If these devotionals have had an impact on you, we would love for you to share them with your friends.

Lines of Difficulties

Read:

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3

Reflect:

If it’s not one thing, it’s another. There will always be recurring waves of the invasion of storms, trials, tragedy, and testing. They are the frontline attack in every believer’s life. Be it the lack of funds, the loss of loved ones, or lines of difficulty drawn through the beauty of life. All these things come in like a flood.

Our soul shouts, “I don’t know how I could ever get through this!” There comes the onslaught of despair, suffering, confusion, fear, worry, and even anger. These are all normal feelings. Beware of thinking God doesn’t care or is absent, He knows our circumstances better than we do.

But, as difficult as this life storm may be, you are not alone. God is with you always. He loves you and cares about what is going on in your life. He hears your cries and sees your pain. Moreover, He understands. Since He himself has now been through suffering, He knows what it is like when we suffer and He is wonderfully able to help us. Whatever we endure, His care is certain, His love is unfailing, and His promises are secure.

At some point, we all wrestle with why God allows us to suffer, and we wonder if it is because He no longer loves us. But the truth is, some of the greatest lessons we ever learn come as the result of hardship. During those painful times, silence the doubt, put your relationship with Him first, and call out to Him. He promises tremendous insight into His heart and mind.

Each day holds enough stress of its own. Whatever is threatening you today, be still and ask the Lord to show you what you can learn through the situation. Call on Him. He will answer you. He will teach you great and mighty things that you need to know. We discover the mighty things of His unflinching character and undefeated purpose.

Respond:

Father, show me the great and mighty things in my heartache. Teach me, Lord, I am listening.
