Psalm 37:18-19

God Knows

Read:

“The Lord knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.” Psalm 37:18-19

Reflect:

One of the great struggles we face in life is insecurity. If we are honest, we all struggle, at times, with emotional insecurity. With the turmoil in the world, we are also fearful for our physical security, and we work our whole lives trying to achieve financial security. In the midst of these insecurities, the psalm for today gives a promise that brings great comfort and security. God knows. He knows every struggle, every heartache, every fear, and every trial. In fact, not only does He know what is happening right now, He knew before the foundation of the world that you would go through these struggles. God is not surprised in the least by anything that comes into your life. He is the sovereign, omniscient God.

God not only knows our trials but He sustains us. The apostle Paul said in Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Hardships, trials, disasters and famine will come and go, but God’s faithfulness and promise to keep us are eternal. Therefore, we can rest in the security of knowing that we can trust God in everything.

Respond:

Father, thank You that You have the power to keep me secure regardless of the circumstances of my life. Give me the strength to rest in your security at all times. Amen
