2 Corinthians 3:17-18

More Than a Makeover

Read:

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:17–18

Reflect:

The work of the Holy Spirit is critical to you as a Christian. In fact, every aspect of your relationship with the Lord Jesus began when you accepted Jesus into your life and He brought salvation. Salvation meant liberty, and liberty gave you, as a Christian, freedom from every sin or controlling habit.

From that point forward, the Holy Spirit went to work, taking you on a remarkable journey that will last throughout your life. During that journey, the Holy Spirit will work in your life to take you into a deeper understanding of who you are as a Christian and transform your life into the image of Jesus.

That process does not result in your looking like Jesus physically. It is far more powerful and awesome than just physical change. The apostle Paul declares it to be “from glory to glory.” This progressive glory speaks of you as a Christian entering into a series of supernatural spiritual changes brought about by the Holy Spirit, in which you rise to live at a new and powerful level of authority and blessing.

This is the Christian life—experiencing the work of the Holy Spirit. And it is the life the Lord Jesus provides for each Christian. The challenge for you, as a Christian, is to open your life to the ministry of the Holy Spirit, receive the work of the Spirit, and expect to be changed.

Respond:

Dear Jesus, today at this very moment, I open my life to the work You desire to do in me. Amen.
