1 John 3:1-3

We are taking a break from our study of the book of Mark for the next few weeks, however, devotionals will continue each day until we resume our study of Mark in August.

The Right to Expect Success

Read:

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1 John 3:1–3

Reflect:

Can an individual become a child of God? Is it really possible? The phrase “children of God” reads like a fairy tale or a Hallmark card as a religious sentiment devoid of truth. Yet the truth remains: the love of God is so powerful and so specific that He invites each human into His family to experience His forgiveness, blessings, and care as His child. That includes you. You can choose to enter the family and begin a new life as a child of God. Being a child of God does not start in heaven; it starts by experiencing the Christian life on earth right now.

In this position as a child of God, you share in the power and authority of God to be victorious in every area of your life. There is no challenge you will face in this life that you will have to face without God. As a Christian, your position as a child of God allows you to live in this reality where nothing will be impossible. What an incredible truth!

In addition to victory in this life, as a child of God you will spend eternity in heaven and fully experience the blessings of having Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Respond:

Dear Jesus, give me the courage to live as one of Your own and to believe You are in charge of the outcome. Amen.
