Matthew 10:27-31

Live LOUD

Read:

“Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:27-31

Reflect:

Jesus is telling His team that they are being sent out to live LOUD as they broadcast the things of God, both verbally and with their actions. In the crazy media-driven world that we live in today, a quiet generation who whispers the name of Jesus will not be heard. It seems that our loud shouts have become quiet whispers as we have attempted to be sensitive to the culture around us. As Jesus told His disciples, it’s time to get on the rooftops of our spiritual houses and shout for the cause of Christ! As team Jesus was told to live LOUD and bring attention to the cross, Jesus knew that they were going to stick out of the crowd, they were going to be made fun of, made to look like they were crazy, etc.

It’s during these difficult times that they would need to remember to only fear God. Why would we be scared of what people think about us? Why would we be scared of what people can do to us? God is the only one deserving of our fear since He is the only one powerful enough to be in control of all things, including eternity! No matter the circumstances you face, remember that God is in complete control. As we live LOUD, we need to rest in His sovereignty. We need to feel secure that the Rock can never crumble. We need to live LOUD with “NO FEAR.”

Respond:

God, give me the boldness that it is going to take to live LOUD in a culture that is telling me to be quiet. Help me to fear no one but You.
